June’s club!

Hey hey everyone!

Well we had a good bash at photos this month, and this is what we got:

Photographer Homework

Members were challenged to take photos that had been inspired by photographers they admired:

Photo Treasure Hunt

Members were given a list of ‘things’ to find to photograph in the space of two hours:

Seeing as how I think everyone is becoming very busy bee’s this summer, we’ve only set one challenge this time around – this one being ‘Comedy’.

Next meeting to be set soon, keep your eyes peeled for updates on the facebook and twitter statuses!

Cheers!

Want to know photoshop?

Hi everyone, I’m very happy to announce we have booked in a last minute photoshop session at The Brudenell back room on Monday 23rd April at 7pm.  This session is kindly hosted by Josh Caudwell who will be running through some tips and interesting bits and bobs about Photoshop to demystify it a little!

Of course he will be answering questions so come down to grill him on anything!

Please remember that this is not the actual Booth Club meeting, this will be held the next day on Tuesday 24th April at 7pm in the back room :D

March Meeting

Hey everyone, thanks for coming down last night to The Brudenell!  It was loads of fun and it was lovely seeing a couple of new faces as well as some familiar ones too!  I had a lot of fun looking at everyone’s entries for Aaron and Josh’s photo challenge, it was very interesting to see how everyone altered the same photo in completely different ways!

Here are the results for the challenge ‘An Accident Waiting to Happen’

This was a challenge inspired by remembering Michael Burke and the 999 Lifesavers programme, I think a few of these photos could start of a whole new series, someone write that man a letter QUICK!

New Challenges:

The new challenges we have for the next meeting are:

Cryptic Triptych Diptych:

The name I couldn’t say so we turned it into Cryptic two’s and three’s – basically taking photographs of things to make them unrecognisable or cryptic and popping them into a Triptych or Diptych.  We’ll try and figure out what they are at the next meeting!

Origami:

Pulled out of the hat, an odd theme with hopefully some odd outcomes!

Self portraits:

Might be nice and slightly uncomfortable to have you take photos of yourselves…

So there you have it!  I’ll let you mull over these for a while whilst I try and book in the April meeting!

A couple of other things for you to be involved in:

NEW LOGO DESIGN CHALLENGE!

Yep, that’s right! We’re updating the logo and we need some photos to pit against each other to win the top, honorary place to be put behind the BOOTH text on the logo.  At the moment we have the purple bubbles by Aaron Jones.  Do you have a picture that you think could work quite well for the logo?  Please send your submissions in before TUESDAY 27th MARCH and we’ll pit the potential new designs against each other.

The new logo will be unveiled at the next meeting!

4am Photo Walk

The 4am project here: http://4amproject.org/ looks like a great candidate for our next photo walk – are you up to the early challenge?  A walk around Leeds at 4am? Crazy? Genius? Dangerous (probably)?  OK!  This is on Sunday 15th April a 4am, d’uh! But it’s probably best that we meet up before then to get our walking legs going!

OK I think that’s everything, thanks again for coming along!  I’ll post up the new date for the next meeting and photo submission deadline soon.  Remember if you want to get in touch just email:  boothclubleeds@gmail.com

Thanks!

Josh and Aaron’s project

In the last meeting there was a suprise project from Josh Caudwell and Aaron Jones who worked on a project together.  They took photos of each other, then chose two photos each from the two portrait sessions.  Once chosen, they each tweaked the photos using post production software to their own taste.  They didn’t let each other see their work until the night of the meeting and it was very interesting to see their results!
